The YMCA and

Sister Websites

YMCA Cambridge & Peterborough is one of 114 national YMCAs providing accommodation for young people but also seek to help young people gain skills and confidence to lead independent lives. Some YMCAs will work predominately with homeless people, while others focus wholly on physical activity or youth work. YMCA's also focus on health & wellbeing, training and education.

The brief was to refresh their current website which was now looking dated as well as get people to donate money to the charity through the site. I lead the creative of two websites we produced for YMCA Cambridge & Peterborough from scoping and concept to delivery. Out of the research and scoping we realised that what the client was asking for was not the best solution, as perceptions of what the YMCA were all about were rather muddled.

We decided that sister websites would be the best solution to separate the rehoming side of the organisation from the health, fitness and training aspect. This avoided mixing messages on the website to improve the understanding of what the YMCA is all about. We did this in a cost effective way by basing both the websites on the same set of template designs but with different cosmetic skins.

"Tammy has many great qualities as a Senior Designer, not only can she turn her hand at creating a brand defining campaign utilising real insight and a 'sixth sense' for what will work for the consumer but also has that rare skill of being able to breathe life into that vision through her creative technical skills too. Media design & build, campaign web sites, moving image and illustrative knowledge coupled with marketing edge, is an appealing mix of skills that make Tammy a unique designer. "

Rajen Mistry, Head of Creative at Golley Slater Digital

"Tammy worked for us (Mobas) on a number of occasions on a freelance basis. Tammy worked exceptionally well with our team and produced fantastic results. Tammy clearly understood the briefs given to her and our clients were always extremely pleased with her designs."
