Cadbury Magical Elves

At Christmas Cadbury sell a product featuring elf characters. Each chocolate bar features one of eight elves and has popping candy inside. There was a narrative behind the magical elves and the popping candy which needed portraying via the website. The brief for this project was, therefore, to create ideas for a campaign website based on this story, which would make a connection from the Christmas selection box designs. The essence of the final idea was to ”follow the magical dust” from the South Pole to Santa’s Grotto in the North Pole, for dynamic Elf blogs plus other fun and games. The project was packed with rich content and was challenging in that we could not market the chocolate bars directly to children.

I played a key part in the pitch for this work and it was the first project I lead and managed from a creative perspective. It was a large scale site featuring a rich animated homepage, advent calendar, blogs, wishlist, storybook and elf profile pages and multiple games to portray each of the 8 elves personalities.

The website recorded almost 200,000 visitors with a total of over 3 million page views. The snowman game garnered more than 23,000 submissions of snowmen
